New Way to Entertain a Boy Brain

For almost a year our oldest Bee Boy saved up for an Apple iTouch.  He finally met Santa in the middle and found it under the tree this Christmas.  He has enjoyed using his own money to purchase games and educational applications online in the Apple App Store.

He really likes the games that are free downloads.  So when I heard about a new free trial audio storybook subscription service in the Apple App Store, Big Bee was all over it.

Just this month Tales2Go launched their app that gives parents instant access to nearly a thousand great kids' stories from audio publishers that streams on-demand, to your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Happy Birthday Baby Boy

It is official. Our littlest Boy Bee is a two year old.  He is a dumpling of a guy with big blue eyes,  sweet dimpled smile, and chunky monkey legs that make you just want to eat him up. This birthday is a celebration of a once premature baby who now takes on the world with toddler zeal.

Sometimes it is hard to believe this hardy heart throb came into the world at 33 weeks,  a 4lbs 1oz little boy bean.  But true to his personality, he does things Little Bee style, so different than his brothers, but yet the same.

Two years ago Little Bee could not wait....

To Do or Not To Do: Friday

Oh how I had grand plans of organization this fine Friday morning.  My to do list filled and my objectives set.  Nothing to stop me from accomplishing my list until the house shines like a new copper penny.  (Do they still make them from copper?)

Anyway, as the 80's song will play, "Nobody gonna break my stride, nobody gonna slow me down, Oh no, I've got to keep a moving."  I love that song.

Things were going well for the plan.   The old chest that needed to go to Goodwill was loaded in Dora the Ford Explorer using my super human furniture moving might...

Twitter Party with Old Friends

For a girl who is doing a TV story on Social Media this week, I am still the new kid in class when it comes to Twitter.  I have been tweeting since December and really enjoy the group of Mommies and family friendly businesses I've connected with on the micro-blogging site.  So imagine my surprise when a company I have history with invites me to a Twitter party.  What will I wear, what should I say, will my dance card be full?  Uh, yeah, it might sound weird, but Twitter parties are fun!

This party was hosted by Tommy Nelson Kids publishers of family friendly books and media for children.  The topic was how to get a sponsor for your website or blog.

How Do You Spell Presidents Day?

It is Presidents Day.  All of my little Boy Bees are at home today.  Biggest Boy Bee is off from school for the big day.  I thought I would ask my little guys what Presidents Day is all about.  Here are their answers:

Big Bee: It is the third Monday in February, George Washington's birthday.  We celebrate because it was his birthday and he was our first President.

Middle Bee: President's day has "Rocka Bama" in it.  You clean your room and stay home.

Little Bee: (When I ask him he just smiles and says, "no".  Well, he is only 1.)

Here is what we know about Presidents Day....

David Hames Found in Haiti

For almost a month we have been waiting for word of our friend David Hames.  David went missing after the earthquake at the Hotel Montana in Haiti.  We now have news the State Department identified the body of our friend this morning.  David is coming home, but it is not the ending we had hoped for his family.

Thousands have prayed for a miracle for David.  He was in Haiti on freelance assignment as a videographer.   David along with friend and co-worker Dan Woolley were producing segments on children living in poverty for Compassion International.  The two were walking only feet from one another in the hotel lobby when the earthquake hit.

We watched as his colleague Dan was pulled out alive and we all hoped to see David pulled to safety.

Qubo and the Pillow Pets

On a recent school field trip one of my son's friends asked him about a popular TV show on Disney.  My oldest Bee said he didn't watch that show anymore.  I explained we no longer have cable, to which one Mommy joked to me, "I didn't think I knew anyone who actually lives like that."

We don't have cable anymore, but we do have a digital tuner for over-the-air television reception, think rabbit ears 2010.  So now for children's programming my kids only have PBS and a kid's channel called Qubo.  Qubo has some charming shows like Babar, Pipi Longstockings, and my three Bees' personal favorite:  Rescue Heros.

Qubo delivers good clean entertainment and a healthy bombardment of mostly "As Seen on TV" like commercials that the kids love and repeat to me and want me to come watch with them.  You've got your Aqua Sand, Remote Helicopter, Bumpits, Choptastic, Bendaroos, and the boys all time favorite, Pillow Pets.....

Healthy Sloppy Joes & Serious Slaw

Ready for a new take on the old Sloppy Joe recipe?  This meal of Sloppy Joe Lentils and Serious Slaw is so yummy it makes a great and easy meal for the family.  Have some toast or burger buns ready and you will love the comfort food taste without the guilt.  It is really good and healthy.  Those two words can go together quite well.

There's No Business Like Snow Business

A blanket of snow is a nice distraction for a few days. The snow at first is beautiful, looks clean, sparkles, and covers the bald spot in our backyard where little boy feet have played many a soccer game.

We enjoyed our mini-snow storm during the day with sledding, snowman construction, and hot chocolate all around, Silly Cow Farms Hot Chocolate to be exact.  Yum.
We made a dance routine of putting on the DRY long johns, snowsuits, gloves, hat, boots, then take off the WET long johns, snowsuits, gloves, hat, boots...cha, cha, cha...
